Completing the Cycle

Getting The Blackhawk Cycle hardback out has been arduous task. It’s taken longer than I thought it would but, once out, I know it’s something I will be proud of and something you will be proud to have.

Let’s roll down the contents again.

Cry Down Dark: first release in 2016. In 2020, the New York Times listed it as the scariest book set in Utah.

Tell No Man: released in 2021. It’s Mormon exorcists, what more could you ask for?

The Lamentations of Blackhawk: I put this out in 2022. Joining Peter Toombs and Maddie Smith together was a fun ride.

“Birthday Boy”: it’s like a side quest story. Yes, it’s in Blackhawk and some familiar names will pop up.

“Epistle to Blackhawk”: here we see some of Peter Toombs ancestors and serves as a reminder that the weirdness of Blackhawk extends beyond its borders.

“The Last Temptation of Maddie Smith: A Blackhawk Coda”: chronologically, this is the end of the cycle and currently exists only on this site.

Do Not Forsake Me: first appearing in this volume, this novella takes us back to the Mormon Pioneer trail and lays the seeds for what will become Blackhawk and Bern (remember Bern from Cry Down Dark?)

“Heather’s Winter”: another first appearance and another side story. This story is about Maddie’s friend Heather and the film industry in Blackhawk.

Currently, we are sitting at 30 preorders. My initial goal was 113. I’d like to hit 50. That number would allow me to get another bit of fun swag into the boxes that will go out with the books. Right now, I’m going to do one more edit on the new stuff, followed by a proofread after I finishing the formatting. Then we will finalize the spine and back of the cover. Once that’s done, I can go to print.

For those of you who have placed an order already, thank you for your patience. For those who are going to order, thank you for hitching yourself to this wagon train. We are so close to completing the cycle.
